Professional Development Services
As Whole Novels For the Whole Class catches on in schools across the country and beyond, I am thrilled to be supporting teachers, teams, and districts in planning and implementing a whole novel approach to the study of literature.
The following professional development offerings can be adapted to the needs and interests of your unique educational community:
Workshops: Whole novels workshops allow teachers to directly experience and internalize the main concepts and practices of the whole novels approach; participants leave with new understandings and concrete strategies that can be brought into the classroom immediately.
Webinars: Interactive webinars offer groups of educators a chance to learn about the whole novels method, including tips for implementation and a Q & A session.
Curriculum Planning Sessions: These meetings with individuals or small teams of teachers support the planning of a whole novel study or year-long whole novel sequence aligned to the needs of the students and school context.
Virtual Coaching: For individuals or small teams of teachers leading students in whole novel studies, I offer ongoing support through video-conferencing.
Curriculum Writing: I provide curriculum maps, unit and/or lesson plans customized to the needs and interests of teachers and students. This service is meant to ease the burden of planning for teachers who want to focus on learning the whole novels method and developing their skills within it. Teachers come away from the experience prepared to design their own whole novel study units.
Public Speaking: Thought-provoking, inspiring talks on literacy practices and/or teacher leadership, grounded in stories of real experiences, with immediate take-aways for educators
